Duboković, “prije 6009 godina” 2009 – Score 87
Deep, dark red colour. Pleasant aroma, mostly spices. Tobacco and mild oak are the dominant aromas in the beginning. Soon the aroma opens towards more modern spice notes like eucalyptus and coconut, and after some 20 minutes other aromas, more typical for Plavac, begin to appear, like mineral notes reminiscent of seaweed, and hints of dry plums. In the mouth, the wine is powerful, rounded and warm, with strongly pronounced and solid tannin structure, which tightens your gums and mouth, but the acidity is excellently balanced, making this New-Worldish wine extremely attractive.

Dark red colour with plentiful reflections of ruby red. Appealing fruity aroma. Plums, both dry and stewed, are the main components, followed by forest fruits and mild spicy notes. The taste is in tune with the smell, nice, lively, very fruity, slightly too alcoholic in comparison with the body, but still pleasantly drinkable and with a well-balanced strength.

Deep, dark red colour. Lush aromas – fruity, spicy and herbal mineral character. The dominant aroma is typical of traditional Plavac wines from Hvar in the premium quality class, with volatile minor acids. Mineral aroma reminiscent of the sea and freshly gathered shells, followed by clear leather notes, traces of dry Mediterranean herbs, some concentrated fruits like blueberries and plums, cherry liqueur, carob. Very rich. Ripe fruits seasoned with mild spicy notes of oak and smoke dominate in the mouth. The taste has a great structure. The tannins are polished and clearly present, and the strength skilfully hidden thanks to the richness of extract, which brings the stability and intensity. Excellent aftertaste, bringing out some saltiness, in addition to already mentioned features. Mature, rich, full, concentrated, but harmonious wine balancing between the traditional and modern.

Duboković, “Medvid” 2006 – Score 89
Exceptionally rich wine. The aroma is half way between mature Plavac wines from Hvar and premium Italian Amarone. Carob, dry plums, minerals and Mediterranean herbs make the Hvar half, while dry figs, raisins and the fruitiness of concentrated sour cherries make the half reminiscent of Amarone. In the mouth the story is completely different. Highly concentrated wine. Its full body and deliciousness successfully hide the true strength of very high alcohol. Plentiful tannins are necessary to support the sweet and tasty effect of the high extract and the ageing potential. It’s a wine of an undoubtedly high quality, stylistically categorized as meditation wine, seeking attention and dedication, not an everyday lunch companion because its strength and intensity would ruin the meal. Try it with good dark chocolate and spicy olive oil.

A masterpiece. Shows how to make a wine of the highest standards using the old and neglected grape varieties from Hvar like Bogdanuša, Maraština, Prč and Kuč.
It is actually a prošek (sweet wine) made using the oxidation method, like the best sweet sherries (not to be mixed with dry sherry, because they are completely different). Bronze golden colour, intensely sweet. The aromas are very complex. They keep replacing each other, appearing in layers. Apple with caramel sauce, followed by fine walnut notes, traces of coffee, plentiful raisins, and finally dry figs. The taste is equally rich. The intense sweetness is not at all plain, thanks to the spicy notes of high alcohol, thick structure and oxidative tones which make for the smoothness and the specific nutty-sweet-bitter-spicy aftertaste. Sweet and very complex wine.

Duboković, “don Petar” 2008 – Score 90
Irresistibly reminding of a Late Bottled Vintage Port. In the nose, a mild woody aroma is mixed with raisins and dry figs. The taste is incredibly sweet and strong. The strength of the alcohol is even more pronounced than the sweetness, so the spiciness is actually the dominant impression in the mouth. Tannins are present, but the sweetness and concentrated extract cover them completely. After the sweetness felt at the beginning and in the mid-palate, the finish is piquant and marked by a pleasantly bitter aftertaste.
Sweet and strong wine with a pronounced tannin trait and plenty of dry fruits.

Duboković, “prije 6009 godina” 2009 – Ocjena 87
Duboke tamno crvene boje. Ugodna mirisa pretežno začinska karaktera. Duhan i nježni hrast na početku su dominantne arome. Potom se ubrzo miris otvara prema modernijim začinskim tonovima poput eukaliptusa i kokosa, a onda nakon dvadesetak minuta konačno se otvoraju i druge, za plavac tipičnije arome, poput mineralnih nota što podsjećaju na morsku travu te tragovi suhih šljiva. U ustima je vino moćno, puno i toplo sa snažno izraženom i čvrstom taninskom strukturom, čija je posljedica lagano stezanje desni i usana, ali i odlično odmjerenom kiselinom koja naglašava voćnost i čini ovo vino novosvjetovnog karaktera iznimno privlačnim.

Tamno crvene boje s brojnim refleksima rubinsko crvene. Privlačna mirisa izrazito voćna karaktera. Šljive, što suhe, što iz kompota, glavne su arome, potom se još pridodaje šumsko voće i nježne začinske note. Okus je u skladu s mirisom, fin, živahan, vrlo voćan, blago prenaglašena alkohola u odnosu na tijelo, ali još uvijek atraktivne pitkosti i uravnotežene snage.

Duboke tamno crvene boje. Raskošna mirisa voćno–začinsko–herbalno mineralna karaktera. Dominira tipična aroma tradicionalnih hvarskih plavaca iz razreda premium kvalitete s rubnim hlapivim kiselinama. Miris minerala koji podsjeća na more i tek izvađene školjke, potom jasne crte kože, primjese suhih mediteranskih trava, nešto koncentriranog voća poput borovnice i šljiva, liker od višanja, rogač. Jako bogato. U ustima dominira zrela voćnost začinjena blagim utjecajem pikantnih nota hrasta i dima. Okus je sjajne strukture. Tanini ispolirani a jasno prisutni, snaga vješto prikrivena zahvaljujući bogatstvu ekstrakta koji još daje postojanost i intenzitet. Izvrsna retrookusa, gdje se uza sve navedeno još pojavljuje i slankastost. Zrelo, bogato, puno, koncentrirano, ali i odlično uravnoteženo vino koje balansira između tradicije i modernizma.

Iznimno bogato vino. Miris se karakterom svrstao na pola puta od zrelih hvarskih plavaca do talijanskog premium Amaronea. Rogač, suhe šljive, minerali i mediteranske trave čine hrvatsku polovicu dok suhe smokve, suhe grožđice i voćnost koncentriranih višanja čine onu polovicu koja neodoljivo podsjeća na Amarone. U ustima je priča potpuno drugačija. Visoko koncentrirano. Punoće i slasti koje uspješno skrivaju pravu snagu iznimno jakog alkohola. Obiluje i taninima, koji su ovdje neophodni kako bi učvrstili slatkasto slasni efekt visokog ekstrakta i dali potencijal za odležavanje. Vino neosporno visoke kvalitete koje stilski spada u ona za meditaciju, što traže pažnju i posvećenost, i nisu pratnja svakodnevnom ručku jer će ga svojom snagom i intenzitetom vjerojatno iznerediti. Probajte ga uz finu tamnu čokoladu i pikantnije maslinovo ulje.

Remek-djelo. Kako se od starih i zanemarenih hvarskih sorata poput bogdanuše, maraštine, prča i kuča može napraviti vino najvišeg svjetskog standarda.
Radi se ustvari o prošeku napravljenom na oksidativan način u maniri ponajboljih slatkih sherryja (napomena: slatkih, jer nema nikakve veze sa suhim sherryjem). Brončano je zlatne boje i intenzivne slatkoće. Nos je iznimno kompleksan. Arome neprekidno i u slojevima mijenjaju jedna drugu. Jabuka s preljevom od karamele, potom fine note oraha, tragovi kave, obilne suhe grožđice te naposlijetku suhe smokve. Okus je jednako bogat. Intenzivna slatkoća nije nimalo banalna zbog pikantne note jakog alkohola, guste strukture te oksidativnih tonova koji su mu dali finoću i specifičan orašasto-slatkasto-gorkasto-pikantni retrookus. Slatko i jako kompleksno vino.

Duboković, “don Petar” 2008 – Ocjena 90
Neodoljivo podsjeća na Late Bottled Vintage Port. Na nosu se blagi utjecaj drva isprepliće s aromama suhih grožđica i suhih smokava. U ustima je iznimno sladak i snažan. Jačina alkohola izraženija je čak i od slatkoće pa je pikantnost u ustima zapravo dominirajući dojam. Tanini su prisutni, ali ih slatkoća i koncetracija ekstrakta potpuno pokrivaju. Nakon slatkoće s početka i sredine okusa završetak obilježavaju pikantnost te ugodna gorkastost retrookusa.
Slatko i snažno vino s jasnom taninskom crtom i pregršt suhog voća.
