The history of Momjan reaches back to 1035 and the spirit of long history is following you in every lane of Momjan. Momjan is irresistible because of the Muscat of Momjan, the white grapevine variety which grows in the limited area of Momjan, at the altitude of 200 to 350 m. Many connoisseurs of Istrian wine will give the 1st place to the Muscat of Momjan due to its golden colour, intensive wild carnations scent and the extraordinary aroma. Dry and sweet. It commonly accompanies desserts, as well as every sophisticated dish. The Muscat is also attributed with aphrodisiac properties, especially for coy ladies. As it is so specific, the Muscat of Momjan is also admired outside Istria. It won the gold medal at the Wine Exhibition in Brussels back in 1935.
