Located in a sleepy village near Benkovac, Šopot is a grilled meat institution. You don’t come here to enjoy an extensive menu, nice view or to show off new clothes. You come here to devour excellent lamb or veal spit roasted or prepared for hours under the “peka” – iron baking lid. Big shady terrace and informal atmosphere are just the perfect setting for sipping local white wine mixed with mineral water, chilling and digesting, with a toothpick hanging from your mouth.
This is also one of the rare places where they have the traditional Benkovac area specialty called prisnac – a savoury pie with cottage cheese and sour milk – but you have to order it a day before.
