Imagine coming to an Adriatic island and by pure chance you become friend with a local fisherman. One day he invites you for a dinner at his home and you can’t believe your mouth how all his family is skilled in preparing delicious fish and seafood dishes of sea animals you have never heard of.
The same feeling you will have if you visit Gostionica “Mala Milna” in Milna on the island of Hvar, a family-run tavern situated in a cove with crystal clear water, right on a gravel beach. Our favorites: fried gavuni or girice (smelt fish) or trilje (red mullets), linguine with seafood (there is more seafood than pasta), steamed mussels, clams and mušule with garlic and parsley, Hvarska gregada (local fish stew with potatoes), all kinds of grilled fish… All these sea delicacies are here prepared in a simple way with fresh ingredients, never with frozen ones. The prices are much better than in nearby town of Hvar. Don’t be surprised if a 5-years-old kid brings you plenty of local travarica (aromatic herb grappa) at the end. And please, don’t practice night swimming immediately after the dinner!

A fantastic restaurant! Delicious fisk, homemade wine and a friendly host. And just the right music. And of top of this the view and smell of the Adriatic.
