Nothing would probably make you stop in a small village of Janjina on Pelješac peninsula if you didn’t know about this amazing and tucked away rustic tavern called Domanoeta. It seems that staying off the beaten path works well for them and you’ll never stumble into big tourist groups here. The owner, Vatren Pekić,  is this goofy and very friendly guy who’ll greet you like an old friend and buy your trust with one of almost 50 homemade rakijas (brandies). The food is simple, straightforward and bursting with natural flavour. After munching on local cheese, pršut (dry cured ham), pickles, olive oil and homemade bread, go for grilled fish or shellfish. There’s not a big list of deserts, but you’ll always find some freshly made traditional sweet. We can’t decide if we like the food or the atmosphere at Domanoeta better. And all that comes at a really fair price. There’s a good chance you’ll leave the place singing and hugging newly found friends. Note: Domanoeta is open from 7 pm to 1 am.

GREAT! Thanks for the recommend, sounds like a fun stop. Will make sure that we visit sometime – any recommends for neighbouring accommodation? Sounds like we’ll need to make a night of it!

Ruth, don’t know about accommodation, but shouldn’t be a problem, there are apartments and rooms to rent everywhere, especially in bigger places like Orebić or Ston. Have a great time and tell us how it went, if you visit Domanoeta.

Beautiful organic food made with love!
And I very much liked the brandy from flowers!
