Lunch breaks in downtown Zagreb will never be the same! How many times have you craved for something homemade, warm and tasty that you can eat with a spoon, but ended up gulping another sandwich, pizza or ćevapčići? “Ćušpajz” is a local Zagreb word meaning a thick stew made from various vegetables, optionally with the addition of bacon, meat or sausages. For most of us, it was a nightmare during childhood, but today you’d often kill for a bowl of hot ćušpajz.

That’s exactly what the owner and head cook of the newly established cute little place called, naturally, Ćušpajz had in mind. And she’s Leonarda Boban, wife of Croatian football legend Zvonimir Boban. So much for the prejudice about footballers’ wives…
Each day you can choose between three fresh stews with seasonal ingredients, to eat in or take away. The offer of wines by the glass is also quite good for such a small and specialized place.

I was there once when i went for a short trip to Zagreb…recommended by a friend of mine. Leonarda is such an amazing women, great positive energy and the food was great….but the human touch was the best thing of all. Top place!
